Cheetah Chatter

Happy Friday

Good afternoon Cheetah families!

I hope everyone had an amazing week. Here are a few highlights from Reed this week: our CAST students (along with Mrs. Strange's Outdoor Science Class) went on a field trip to give back to the environment through a cleanup effort. Also, our 5th graders had the opportunity to visit Boise State University, and our Kindergarten class has kicked off their ABC countdown to the end of the year with fun activities and dress-up days.

Looking ahead, ISAT testing will begin next week. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will start their state testing. Please encourage your student to do their best, get plenty of rest, and eat breakfast each morning.

Please take a look at all of the important information below. We are wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing students on Monday!

May 21st Kindergarten Open House

Dear Parents of Incoming Kindergarteners,

We want to let you know that the Kindergarten Open House has been moved from Wednesday, April 16th, to Wednesday, May 21st.

The time remains the same, from 2 to 6 p.m. We look forward to meeting you and your child for a tour of the school on May 21.

Why the change?
Our elementary school attendance zones are being reviewed, and final decisions will be made at the May 13th Kuna School Board meeting.

Although we expect only minor adjustments to the zones, we want to make sure you know which school your child will attend before the Open House.

Parent University: Kindergarten 101
We also invite you to a Parent University event on Monday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Swan Falls High School. This session is designed to help parents learn more about kindergarten and school and answer any questions you may have.

Key Dates:
  • Monday, April 28 - 6:30 p.m.: Parent University: Kindergarten 101, Swan Falls High School

  • Wednesday, May 21 - 2 to 6 p.m.: Kindergarten Open House, tour the school with your child

  • Tuesday, Aug. 19 - 4 to 6 p.m.: Back-to-School Open House, meet teachers, drop off supplies

  • Thursday, Aug. 21: First day of school!

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming your child to kindergarten!

Reminders

Classes Start at 8:50

Parents please remember our classes start at 8:50. If students are eating breakfast they need to be here by 8:30 to give them enough time to eat. If student are not in class by 8:50 they will be receiving a tardy on their attendance.

Doors Not open Until 8:30am

Parents, we do not have adult supervision outside before 8:30am. We also open our doors for breakfast at 8:30am. Please drop your students off at 8:30am and not earlier. With the cold weather, students are having to stand outside, without supervision, and in the cold until 8:30am. Thank you for your help and support.

Call the Office an HOUR Ahead of Time

Please call the office at least an hour ahead of time if you are picking up your student or changing how they are getting home. This ensures that we have them ready and/or can get the message to them in time.

Girls on the Run
Dear Families,

We're excited to share that our Girls on the Run is kicking off our Community Impact Project, and we'd love your support!

As part of our project, the girls have chosen to collect spare change and aluminum pull tabs to support the Ronald McDonald House - an organization that helps keep families close while their children receive medical care.

Here's how you can help:
• Send in any spare change with your child between now and May 1st.
• Collect aluminum pull tabs (from soda cans, soup cans, etc) and drop them off by May 1st.

Every coin and pull tab will go to helping families in need. This project gives our girls a powerful way to experience the impact of compassion, leadership, and community.

With gratitude,

Reed Girls on the Run
