ISAT Testing

ISAT testing begins Tuesday for our 4th–5th grade students, and we want to reassure families that this is nothing to stress or worry about! 💙 These assessments are simply a chance for students to show off all the incredible learning and growth they've made this year 📚✨.

Our CAST team has planned some special surprises for students to celebrate the end of each ISAT--fidgets after Science, candy after ELA, and extra recess after Math. Way to go, CAST team!

Testing dates are:
  • April 22, 24--ELA ISAT
  • April 29, May 1--Math ISAT
  • May 6--Science ISAT (5th grade only)
  • Additional testing time each Wednesday from April 23-May 7 for students who need more time or are absent on a testing day

To help your child feel confident and ready, here are a few friendly reminders for testing days:
  • 💤 Get a good night’s sleep before each testing day
  • 🍳 Eat a healthy breakfast in the morning
  • ⏰ Arrive to school on time
  • 💧 Bring a water bottle and a 📖 book to read after testing
Our teachers and staff are here to support your child every step of the way and are working hard to make this a positive and even fun experience. We are so proud of our students and all they’ve accomplished—you’ve got this! 💪😊

AVID definition: moving up through your own hard work

At Ross, we believe that all students can learn at high levels!

Ross is pretty special! We are an AVID Nationwide Demonstration School, one of only a few in the nation.

What does it mean to be an AVID school? As an AVID school, we believe that all students can be prepared for their next level of learning. AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which means we support students in moving up through their own hard work. We believe that every student can learn at high levels (grade level or higher) and we use all kinds of strategies to help students become their best learning selves and be prepared for their future--middle school and beyond!

Cell Phones and Smart Watches

ross is a learning zone

Ross is a Learning Zone!

Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!
