Student and Staff Leadership

CAST students after touring our incoming 3rd graders around campus
An announcement for the Ross Awards Ceremony, with a schedule and date.

Stepping Up in Late May

This week, we saw so many students and staff step up and help make Ross a better place.

  • Our CAST students toured the incoming 3rd graders from Hubbard and Indian Creek to help them get to know and love Ross. They shared their favorite things about Ross and gave each 3rd grader a gift to take home.
  • Mr. Paul, our custodian, officially retired today. He's off to another state on his next adventure! We held a staff potluck this morning to wish him well. He has worked tirelessly in the last month to get our new classrooms ready for the students we're adding next year, hauling countless loads of materials to new storage spaces and homes. His impact will be felt long after this year. Best of luck, Mr. Paul!
  • Three boys from Mrs. Gambill's class--Axel, Weston, and Logan--helped put some chairs together in my office. They made sense of the terrible directions and just made it work.
  • Jaden from Mrs. Sweet's class chose to help me organize some paper and other materials during his recess to clean up a messy space. He was so wonderful!
  • Mrs. Wardell and Mrs. Godfrey filled in for Mrs. Hassel's class today when she left to have her baby. Congrats to Mrs. Hassel on your baby girl! We'll see you back next year.

Countless other students and staff have stepped up this week to help each other out. It's been an inspiring week at Ross.

Next week, we get to celebrate all the good that's happened this year with events in our classrooms and school-wide events. During Field Day, we get to celebrate some of our students who are receiving special awards. If your student has earned an end-of-year award, you received an invite through ParentSquare for our Ross Awards station. We look forward to seeing you at the time on the invite for your child's award.

Thank you!

Updates for our school community

As you may have seen from district messaging the last couple of weeks, boundary changes were approved by the school board to help with overcrowding at Reed and Silver Trails since the levy didn't pass. We will welcome some new families to Ross.

We are excited to grow and welcome new friends to our building. We will be all filled up! We are confident that they will have a great learning experience and enjoy the leadership opportunities they will have through AVID, Lunch Clubs, and CAST.

Here's a link to the district message that was sent out with the new boundary map.

AVID definition: moving up through your own hard work

At Ross, we believe that all students can learn at high levels!

Ross is pretty special! We are an AVID Nationwide Demonstration School, one of only a few in the nation.

What does it mean to be an AVID school? As an AVID school, we believe that all students can be prepared for their next level of learning. AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which means we support students in moving up through their own hard work. We believe that every student can learn at high levels (grade level or higher) and we use all kinds of strategies to help students become their best learning selves and be prepared for their future--middle school and beyond!

Cell Phones and Smart Watches

ross is a learning zone

Ross is a Learning Zone!

Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!
