Holiday Sing-A-Long
Thank you for attending our Holiday Sing-A-Long. It was such a fun event and a great turn out. Thank you to our music teacher, Mrs. Edwards, for organizing this event.

At the K-1 event, Kuna High School CAST presented 1st grader, Clay, with a check to his family as he continues his fight against cancer. Thank you KHS CAST for supporting Clay and his family.

Computer Science Education Week
This week was Computer Science Education week. Silver Trail students joined the worldwide movement recognizing the importance of Computer Science education. We celebrated this week by completing an Hour of Code during our Keyboarding Special. We also had five special guests join our 3-5th grade classes sharing their careers within computer science. Thank you Alyssa Barela with Ericsson Enterprise Wireless, Leo Wright with Idaho Power, Ashley Gazley and Kari Wardlewith Idaho Public Television, and Monte Woolstenhulme with IDLA . Our Students loved having them share what they do everyday as well as helping with our Hour of Code!

Underground Spirit Week
This week, the staff got together for an "Underground Spirit Week". Each day was a different theme, such as "Mixed Patterns Day", "Anything but a Cup Day", "Flannel Day" and "Monochromatic Day". The students had a fun time guessing why in the world we were dressed differently or using weird cups!
Ask your students if they noticed.

Winter Weather
Dear Families,

As we enter the winter months, we want to remind everyone that the cold weather can affect our parking lot, drop-off and pick-up procedures, as well as recess times. Please take note of the following important updates:

Recess Guidelines:
  • 22°F and above: Students and recess monitors will go outside.
  • 18°F to 22°F: Recess will be shortened.
  • 18°F and below: No outdoor recess will be held, as the temperature is too cold for safe outdoor activities.
Before School Supervision:
  • Before school begins, students will be sent to the hallways outside their classrooms. Recess monitors will supervise students until they are sent directly to class at 8:48 AM. Monitors will help guide students to their classrooms.
Indoor Recess:
  • If recess is held indoors due to weather, students and recess monitors will stay inside. During indoor recess, students can watch a movie or engage in drawing activities.
Parking Lot and Safety:
  • We greatly appreciate your patience during morning and afternoon drop-offs and pick-ups. The lots can be slower as snow and ice affects the drive.
  • For everyone’s safety, please drive cautiously and watch for icy spots in the parking lot and walkways.
Tardiness:
  • We have noticed an increase in late arrivals this year. To help your child start the day on time, please plan accordingly to ensure they arrive before the bell rings at 8:48 AM.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe and on schedule this winter!
