CAST Compassion Activities
Our new CAST team will be building a Compassion tree for the school, where students can compliment other students for the kind things they do for each other with leaves on the tree.

The class with the most leaves submitted will win a party with CAST and Mrs. Tripp!

Leadership Opportunity: 4th Grade Lunch Clubs
Starting on September 23, 4th Graders can fill out an application to run a Lunch Club for their classmates.

Lunch Clubs are choice activities that students put together that any classmate can join freely during lunch recess. Some past Lunch Clubs have included Rubik's Cube Club, Art Club, Friendship Bracelet Club, Lego Club, and Magic Club. These are free activities, run by students and parent volunteers, that give students a chance to experience different things at recess.

Running a Lunch Club gives 4th graders valuable leadership experience and add to the fun and friendship on campus for all students. Watch for the application coming in September newsletters.

AVID definition: moving up through your own hard work
At Ross, we believe that all students can learn at high levels!
Ross is pretty special! We are an AVID Nationwide Demonstration School, one of only a few in the nation.

What does it mean to be an AVID school? As an AVID school, we believe that all students can be prepared for their next level of learning. AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which means we support students in moving up through their own hard work. We believe that every student can learn at high levels (grade level or higher) and we use all kinds of strategies to help students become their best learning selves and be prepared for their future--middle school and beyond!

Get Involved!
Ross and Indian Creek PTA
Our PTA is shared with Indian Creek, and we work together to plan great activities such as the Jog-a-thon, School Carnival, Popcorn Friday, and much more.

Come help us plan on the second Tuesday of the month from 3:45-4:45 at Indian Creek.
Ross PAC
Right after the PTA meeting each month, Ross hosts the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting to talk about Ross-specific activities, like our AVID in Action Family Breakfast.

Come join us just after PTA from 4:45-5:15 at Ross. We meet right after PTA, so the start time may vary by a few minutes depending on how long PTA lasts.
PTA/PAC meeting
Thank you to parent volunteers!
Thanks to those who have signed up to be involved in one of many ways:
  • $5 Teacher Appreciation Gift Card donations
  • Lunch Club volunteers
  • Popcorn Friday volunteers
Sign up in ParentSquare using the "Sign Up" links.

Thanks for the great turnout at our Ross/Indian Creek PTA meeting! We have some great plans for family and student events coming up. It'll be a great year together.

Cell Phones and Smart Watches
ross is a learning zone
Ross is a Learning Zone!
Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!

Attendance Matters
Attendance Matters
In order to learn best, students need to be here for instruction. Thanks so much for helping us get to 94% attendance this week.

See the graphic below for details about how absences add up to so much missed instruction over time.

We want each student to be massively successful and ready for their futures. We love them!
