BOARD REPORT 

Board discusses levy options or the possibility of $3.2 million in further cuts

Following the failure of the previous levy and the district's cutting over $2.5 million in expenses for the 2024-25 school year, the board discussed asking voters to consider a levy in November or the possibility of having to cut another $3.2 million from the 2025-26 budget.

Board considers extracurricular fee increase for 2024-25 

The Board heard a presentation from district leadership regarding the fees for extracurricular activities for the 2024-25 school year.  District leadership was asked to provide additional information in August so they can vote on the amount of increase needed to offset costs related to coaches' stipends, sports equipment, and transportation costs.

ISBA to help find the next KSD Superintendent

The Board heard proposals from two companies to help with finding the next KSD Superintendent.

  • ISBA for the amount of $8,750

  • McPherson & Jacobson for the amount of $17,800


ISBA was chosen to guide the search process.

Kuna students perform well on state reading tests   

Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Kevin Gifford reviewed the performance of the district’s K-3 students on the Idaho Reading Indicator. During the 2023-24 school year, Kuna students demonstrated a proficiency of 69.2%. Only two Treasure Valley districts performed better than Kuna. The district’s nearly 70% students proficient also outpaced performance statewide which was 66.5% District leadership is very proud and grateful of the hard work by teachers, students, and parents, who all worked hard to have nearly 70% of students meet this level of achievement.

Exploring sale of 4th Street Gym


The Board approved district leadership to explore the possibility of selling the 4th Street Gym and get Requests for Proposals for appraisal of the property.
