From the Principal: Forging Our Future

Dear Kuna Middle School Families,

We know facing challenges together makes us stronger. We provide great learning, and that means we tackle obstacles. We want to be a top school, and that means building resilience as we work towards improvement. When we recently saw a need for better student progress, our teachers worked together in teams to find solutions. We addressed other issues by working together with families. When we have opportunities, we teach students how to solve social and emotional difficulties. We’re working together to make KMS stronger.

We know every step forward makes us a better community. We’re honest about areas to improve and work together to find solutions.

Help us grow stronger by sharing your ideas. Your voice matters. Contact us or join our next PTO meeting on March 31 with PTO Meeting @ 5:30 & Parent Advisory Committee Meeting @ 6:00pm to share your thoughts.

Science

Last week in life science, we kicked off our study of ecology by exploring ecosystems, habitats, and the factors that shape them. Students examined the differences between biotic (living) and abiotic (nonliving) components of ecosystems and discussed how resource availability affects organisms and populations.
Our activities included:
  • Class discussion and a "What is Ecology?" reading to introduce key concepts.
  • An Algae WebQuest to analyze real-world data.
  • Hands-on learning about abiotic vs. biotic factors and habitat organization.
  • A field trip to observe ecology in action!
By the end of the week, students were able to describe different parts of an ecosystem, classify biotic and abiotic factors, and explain how water quality influences ecosystems. We look forward to diving deeper into these topics in the coming weeks!

Feed it Forward

Food Insecurity is on the rise at Kuna Middle School
Feed it Forward is a program hosted by KMS PTO for KMS students.
It allows anyone to donate in order to cover needed school lunch funds.
Students are not allowed to charge meals.
Insufficient funds= no lunch
Short $.50 =no lunch

But, Feed it Forward can cover a student that day, so they can have a
hot lunch.
KMS PTO donated $500 in March to the program, that money was well spent covering student lunches.
They have donated another $500, but it will likely be gone in six weeks or less.
Please consider donating.

How to donate:
Scan the QR code, Specify Feed it Forward on your donation
If you would like a receipt, please reach out to the KMS PTO and they will provide one.
KMS PTO is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization
Thank you for supporting KMS and it's students
