Facilities: Maintenance & Repair Projects
State provides $22.7 million over 10 years toward district's $194 million building maintenance backlog
In 2024, the Idaho Legislature authorized the sale of School Modernization Facilities bonds to help address school building and maintenance needs across the state.
To access these funds, school districts were required to submit a 10-year facilities plan outlining their maintenance and building priorities — excluding athletic and sports facilities. (Click to review the plan submitted to the state.)
Based on 2024 cost estimates, the Kuna School District identified more than $194 million in facility needs.
The district received $25.2 million from the state’s funds (Idaho Code 33-911 & 33-912-918.)
Working with LKV Architects and Beniton Construction, the district is prioritizing projects identified in the 10-year plan with work beginning in 2025.
Due to the nature of many of these improvements, work must be scheduled when students are not in the buildings and are done in phases.
