Fremont H. Teed Orff Percussion Ensemble   

 

Description of the Ensemble-

The Fremont H. Teed Elementary 5th grade Orff Percussion Ensemble consists of 25 advanced music students. Students must audition on drums and a mallet instrument. They also must receive a strong recommendation from their classroom teacher regarding their overall responsibility and dependability.  They use Caribbean steel drums, Orff instruments and various drums.  They practice Tuesday and Thursday before school 7:30am-8:10am. In March they were accepted to perform at the Idaho Music Educator’s Conference in Nampa, Idaho.

                                                                     

Description of the Spokane Conference-

The ensemble applied and was accepted to perform at the AOSA (American Orff Schulwerk Association) national conference Nov. 4-6 in Spokane WA. 100’s of applications and DVD’s were sent in. The conference committee selected ten ensembles to perform at the conference. The conference is an opportunity of a life time for the students. The ensemble will be representing Teed Elementary, the KSD and the State of Idaho.

                                                                                                 

 

History of The Ensemble                          

Over the year’s the ensemble has performed at the Idaho Music Educators Conference, Western Idaho Elementary Music Festival and the Boise Capitol building. The director is Mrs. Anita Edwards (Teed music specialist). She’s been teaching for 10 years in the Kuna school district. She started the percussion ensembles in 2003 at Teed. This year the ensemble was so large she divided the group into two class’s a 5th and 6th gr. ensembles.
